Ganglion, nerve cells

The parasympathetic system is exclusively a cholinergic system. The neurotransmitter acetylcholine is produced at both pre- and post-ganglionic nerve cells. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter at the preganglionic neurons of the sympathetic system also, but the postganglionic sympathetic stimulation is by norepinephrine. 

Rajapurkar and Koelle reported that intravenous V at 40 mg/kg, but not at 4 mg/kg, induced reactivation of cholinesterase in the surfaces of cells of the cat s superior cervical ganglion after the animal had been given DFP at 3.7 mg/kg 20 min earlier there was no significant reactivation of the cholinesterase in the ganglion as a whole (after homogenization). These findings suggest that, even when an oxime is able to make contact with the surfaces of nerve cells, it is not able to penetrate into the neurons this is similar to the situation for muscle cells described by Flelsher.94. 

Ganglion. A general term for a group of nerve cell bodies with a few exceptions these are located outside the CNS.

In the scolex ganglion of the tetraphyllid Pelichnobothrium speciosum, where unipolar and multipolar neurones are found, the nerve cell processes have been reported as forming tight junctions which cannot be interpreted as synaptic contacts 260) this anomalous observation clearly requires confirmation. 

Ganglion—Cluster of nerve cell bodies. In vertebrates, found outside of the central nervous system and act as relay stations for impulses. In invertebrates, act as a "central" control. 

The nervous system resembles that of the annelid worms, but it is not segmented. The brain is the dorsal ganglion, an accumulation of nerve cells located over the esophagus, which extend into a single ventral nerve cord. 

The full expression of this phenotypic switch in nodose ganglion neurons requires intact vagus nerves, but if allergen reached the systemic circulation in sufficient quantities, it could also stimulate substance P synthesis by local activation of vagal ganglionic mast cells (Chuaychoo et al. 2005). 

Ganglion Cysts This disorder is the enlargement of a nerve cell or ganglion. The disorder often appears with other cumulative trauma disorders.
