Gallium 9 -hydrate

The hydrated nitrate, Ga(N02(3 9H20, is formed by dissolving gallium ia nitric acid. [Pg.164]

Also, supernatant solution in the Bayer liquor still contains an appreciable amount of soluble aluminum salt that needs to be removed by electrolysis prior to gallium recovery. This may be done either by treating the solution with lime to precipitate out calcium aluminate or by neutralizing the solution with carbon dioxide to precipitate alumina hydrate (Hudson, L.K. 1965. J. Metals, 17, pp. 948-51). Removal of most aluminum by these processes enhances the concentration of gallium in the solution to a level of approximately 0.1% whereupon the solution may be electrolyzed using an anode, cathode, and cell made of stainless steel. [Pg.308]

Gallium sesquioxide is precipitated in hydrated form upon neutralization of acidic or basic solution of gallium salt. Also, it is prepared by thermal decomposition of gallium salts. Gallium oxide hydroxide, GaOOH [20665-52-5] on calcinations at high temperatures yields beta- Ga203. [Pg.313]

The gallium containing zeolites analclme and nepheline hydrate II have also been described (18). Only the silicon NMR of gallium thomsonite (-82.9 ppm (7) c.f. thomsonite, -83.5 ppm (3)) has, to our knowledge, been previously described. [Pg.233]

Like their aluminum counterparts, gallium alkoxides are susceptible to hydrolysis, giving Ul-defined products. Methanolysis of hydrated Ga + ions produces Ga(OMe) + and Ga(OMe)2+ in solvated forms, as well as polymeric complexes. Ga(OPh)3 reacts with boiling MeOH or EtOH to form the corresponding alkoxide. Reaction of the trialkoxide compounds with other metal alkoxides, for example, LiOR, results in the formation of four-coordinate complex anions of the type [Ga(OR)4] A recent review of sesquihahdes/oxides... [Pg.1383]
