Gallium chalcogenides

The gallium chalcogenide halides are hygroscopic compounds that decompose (without melting) at temperatures between 240 and 380°C to a mixture of chalcogenide and halide (see Table XVIII). The tel-luride halides are yellow, and the other compounds are colorless 160, 165). 

Gallium(III) azide, 72 360 Gallium-based laser diodes, 72 349 Gallium chalcogenides, 72 359 Gallium compounds, 72 344, 355-361 with ammonia, 72 357-358 with phosphorus, arsenic, and antimony, 72 360... 

Other gallium-chalcogenide anions are observed in the solid state, that is, discrete [GaeSeio] " anions occnr in CssGasSey, while Cs6Ga2Sc6, obtained as moisture-sensitive crystals by the reaction of Cs2Se with Ga2Sc3, contains the [Gay See] " anion. 

Three-dimensional sulfide and selenide frameworks have also been made in the indiiun and gallium chalcogenide compositions. In addition, the incorporation of mono or divalent cations into indium or gallium chalcogenide compositions has produced some new framework chalcogenides often based on the assembly of chalcogenide clusters. 

Copper-indium and copper-indium-gallium chalcogenides... 

The chalcogenide bromides and chlorides may be prepared by the reaction of the halide with the respective chalcogenide in a sealed ampoule. A mixture of gallium metal and chalcogen may be used, instead of the chalcogenide. The chalcogenide iodides are S3mthesized directly from the elements. The exact preparative conditions are listed in Table XVIII 160,165). 

Complex equilibria among multiple species are typical also of polyselenide and polytelluride solutions. Aqueous polyselenide solutions have been employed as electrolytes in high-elRciency PEC with photoanodes made of gallium arsenide and cadmium chalcogenides (Chap. 5). Unlike polysulfides, the fundamental equilibria constraining the distribution of polyselenide species have not been meticulously characterized [19]. 

The SSPs are prepared by the reaction of a stabilized Cu(I) cation, with an indium(III) or gallium(III) chalcogenide anion, prepared in situ by reaction of the conjugate acid of the thiol or selenol with NaOMe in methanol (Scheme 6.1 below).1,3...
