Placebo-controlled studies The efficacy and safety of gabapentin for prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting were evaluated [67 ]. Chemotherapy-naive patients received either placebo or gabapentin 300-900 mg/d, 5 days prior to xmtil 5 days after chemotherapy. One patient stopped gabapentin treatment due to sleepiness. Other side effects related to gabapentin included xerostomia (57%), weakness (47%), sleepiness (45%), dizziness (45%), constipation (45%), and heart bum (32.5%).
