Fusabond compatibilizers

DuPont Fusabond compatibilizers (in a number of grades, mainly based on maleic anhydride-grafted polyolefins) have been used in Finland with multilayer film waste, allowing the recycler to reprocess it as video film cassettes or bottles. [Pg.239]

Proprietary compatibilizers-cwm-impact modifiers offer a more economic solution and are widely used. These materials are formulated for specific types of polymer mixtures, viz. Blendex — polybutadiene-type compatibilizer for styren-ics, PVC, TPU, PET, EXL — an acrylic-based additive for PEST, Fusabond — maleated-PO compatibilizer for PO/PET blends, Vector — is SBS-type block copolymers with stabilizers, designed for PO/PS commingled mixtures, etc. [Pg.1129]

The polysulfone was Udel P-3900, the Polypropylene was a melt fracture grade 9003 (ME =0.8g/10inin) and the two compatibilizers we examined were Fusabond P 51 ID (maleic-anhydride grafted Polypropylene) and Fusabond A 160D (maleic-anhydride grafted EMA). The two binary blends examined contained 20%PP/80% Polysulfone. The ternary blends contained 5% by weight compatibilizer with the ratio of PP and Polysulfone remaining the same. Preparation of Films... [Pg.475]

Table 2 contains tensile property data of the materials and blends with and without compatibilizer at the two temperatures. It can be seen that adding 20% PP to Polysulfone decreases the tensile strength at break at the lower temperature due to significant viscosity differences between the two materials. There was an unexpected significant increase in the elongation at yield (about 50% for both temperatures). Only with the addition of the maleic-anhydride grafted PP (Fusabond P... [Pg.476]
