In Malaya the Rubber Research Institute is continually studying new and old fungicidal treatments. These are gazetted and, if they have passed tests, they are included in an approved list, which gives the range of concentrations that will properly inhibit the disease and still not be too toxic for treating the newly cut bark tissues. The materials are applied by spraying a narrow band on the trunk, on each... [Pg.38]

Cu naphthenate manufd by the Nuodex Products Co, Elizabeth, NJ, under the name of "Fungicide B was tested at PicArsn from the point of view of suitability for fungicide treatment of wood to be used for dunnage, crating and packing boxes of expls, such as TNT, Tetryl, Comp B, Comp C-4, 50/50 Pentolite 60% Dynamite. It was shown that presence of naphthenate in wood caused no seriously adverse effect upon the stability of the expls tested (Ref 2)... [Pg.304]

Encapsulation of haustoria could also be seen after curative fungicide treatment. Primary haustoria usually were not encased but all haustoria produced during and after the treatment were distinctly encapsulated, causing a complete inhibition of fungal growth and blocking spore formation. [Pg.75]

The next figure (Figure 10) demonstrates that the intercellular mycelium in the treated tissue advanced to the mesophyll cells where it elicited a hypersensitive response within colonized, as well as in adjacent cells. The fungicide treatment induced in the susceptible wheat variety a reaction (hypersensitivity) which resembled that of a highly resistant host plant after rust attack, as described earlier for powdery mildew and barley. [Pg.79]

A fungicide treatment shortly before or at the beginning of conidia production caused a sharp reduction of conidia formation. This could be demonstrated by counting conidia of treated and untreated specimens. In addition to this, the treated lesions turned brown and became necrotic because the fungus had stopped growing (1). [Pg.82]

In England, it is recommended that fungicidal treatment for control of powdery mildew on spring barley be applied when 3% of the area of the two oldest green leaves is infested with mildew. For winter wheat in the Federal Republic of Germany, the threshold value is about 1% infested area of the uppermost two leaves or an infestation frequency of more than 60%, that is when about two-thirds of all plants show mildew attack. These values are thought to indicate the presumable beginning of an epidemic development. [Pg.122]

The total number of berries with fruit rot symptoms and the number of berries with symptoms of anthracnose or stem end rot from the April 24 harvest time were significantly lower from plots treated with the fungicides Switch, Cabrio , CaptEvate , and Pristine than from those receiving no fungicide treatment (Table 2). The most prevalent diseases in the Louisiana field study were anthracnose caused... [Pg.11]

To prevent growth of wood-inhabiting fungi it is customary to treat wood with chemicals which are toxic to fungi. To pro-tect wood in service from deterioration by decay fungi, the chemicals, called wood preservatives, are applied in most cases by pressure treatment because deep penetration into the wood is essential. Wood products intended for use where the decay hazard is low are unlikely to require pressure treatment but in many instances may require superficial fungicidal treatment to prevent fungal discoloration. [Pg.32]
