This is not science, it s pseudoscience. In the last century, the same experimental observations might have been interpreted by Freudian psychologists in a totally different way and with no more justification. In the science of human behavior, there has always been too much servility to our pet preconceptions. A generation passes, the preconceptions collapse, and the servility starts again from a new platform. There s much in evolutionary psychology that s not pseudoscience, but unfortunately theres enough to be worrisome. 

This conceptual polarization can be mapped onto other familiar binaries private/public, sexual/political, psychological/sociological. Not surprisingly, we also note a theoretical preference in each position for either Marx or Freud or for some version of Marxist or Freudian theory. This begs the question, must the white supremacist taboo on miscegenation and the violence in which it obtains be represented as either superstruc-tural or overdetermining Must they be considered either a smoke screen...
