Freaky flash is the tenn used for the production of irregular flashes below the true flash point of an oil. Coiitainiuatioii of an oil with small amounts of volatile organic substances is responsible for this. [Pg.251]

Fatty oils on heating may undergo thennal decomposition. Evolution of vapours of decomposition products and traces of free fatty acids present in the oils gives rise to freaky flashes. Flash points of fatty oils vary between 300-500 F. [Pg.251]
