Franklin increments

Bicyclobutane is unique in that it does not obey the strain additivity rule of small-ring bicyclo[n.m.O]alkanes. For example, the strain energy of bicyclo[2.1.0]pentane, using the Franklin group increment is 53.6 kcal mol" This should be compared to the sum of the strain energies in cyclobutane (26.4) and cyclopropane (27.6 kcal mol" ). Yet, the sum of two cyclopropanes (55.2 kcal mol" is ca. 9 kcal mol" lower than that of bicyclobutane. 

Calculation of group increments to heats of formation of linear hydrocarbons was reported by Pitzer, K. S. /. Chem. Phys. 1940, 8, 711 and to nonlinear hydrocarbons by Franklin, J. L. Ind. Eng. Chem. 1949, 42,1070. 

Based on increasing violence in the community and pressure from the community, the Samuel County School District announced today that it will conduct a comprehensive vulnerability assessment of the fifteen schools located in the district. Because of the number of schools, the district will take an incremental approach based on perceived need of each school. For purposes of this activity, the assessment team will conduct the first assessment at Benjamin Franklin High School in the southern part of Samuel County.
