The following table due to Jean Escard summarises the properties of chill cast bars, of bars forged at 350°, and of bars annealed at 300° for one hour after forging —... [Pg.82]

Ti-6A1-4V (P Transus Temperature, 995 °C). TI-6A1-4V is difficult to form even after annealing—usually for V2 to 4 h at 700 to 820 °C. Primary fabrication operations, (ingot breakdown), are often initiated above the p transus and finished below it, in several steps. These steps could involve P and cx/p forging, and will include some P recrystallization steps. Mill products are usually finished in the temperature range 870 980 °C— i.e., high in the a + P field. Other forging practices, and the properties that result firom them, are discussed by WOOD [W0072]. [Pg.35]

Ti-Mn series forged at840 "C (1545 °F), hot roiled at 815 °C (1500 °F), then cold rolled 84% with intermediate anneals at 730 C (1345 F)[Lab71]. As a binary alloy containing 2.5 wt% copper, IMI 230 combines the formability and weldability of unalloyed titanium with improved mechanical properties particularly at elevated temperatures. This alloy can be used at temperatures up to 350 °C (660 °F) and is used in the annealed condition as sheet, forgings and extrusions for fabricating components such as bypass ducts of gas turbine engines. Aging treatment raises room-temperatiu e tensile properties by about 25%, and almost doubles the elevated-temperature properties (e.g., creep at 200 °C). [Pg.225]

Iodide (high-purity) grade forged, hot and cold rolled, annealed at 8S0°C. [Pg.529]

The model alloys with a base composition (in wt%) Ee-20Cr-5Al-0.05Y (Table 7.1) were prepared by melting and solidification in a cold crucible under pure Ar. The ingots were forged and hot rolled down to 1 mm at 1000°C. The final annealing treatment was 1 h at 1000°C in pure Ar followed by water quenching. The chemical compositions of the sheets analysed by ICP-MS are summarised in Table 7.2. [Pg.114]
