Flour, Cellulosic. To this belong sawdust, woodfiour, woodmeal, woodpulp, etc. For example, woo.dmeal has been used in French expl combns, such as Dynamite-gnmmes and Gelatines B(pacasse) and B(soude) Belgian Forcites used to be manufd at Baelen-sur-... 

FORCITES. Accdg to Daniel (Ref 1) and Giua ( Ref 9), Forcites are Gelatin Dynamites patented in 1880 by Swedish Officer Lewin. 

Among the dopes used may be cited the following combustibles colophony (used by Nobel in his Dynamites of 1869 1873) (Vol 3 of Encycl, p C403R) wood-meal, woodpulp and sawdust in Grisounite and in some Amer Dynamites cork,charcoal (in "Carbodynamite , described in Ref 60, p C52-L) naphthalene (in Rheinischdynamit) and cotton or other forms of cellulose (in "Forcites ). Less frequently have been used peat moss, ivoty nut meal, unbaked com flakes, starch, pulverised peanut hull, pulverized cottonseed hulls and sunflower seed shells... 

The gelatin dynamites manufactured in Belgium are called Fordtes. The reported compositions of several of them are tabulated below. Forcite extra is an ammonia gelatin dynamite.

To prepare the blasting compound Forcite 76 parts of the above gelatinous nitro-glycerine are mixed with 15 parts of saltpetre and 9 of sawdust.
