Food technology, definition

These two examples illustrate that different food additive definitions tend to be very similar because a general consensus has been reached among the majority of countries as to what an additive is. It should also be pointed out that a special statute is normally reserved for dietetic products, nutritive substances added to food products (e.g., vitamins, amino acids, minerals, etc.), technological processing aids, and aromas. 

The terms food technology and food science are often used almost as equivalents but many of those most directly concerned believe there is a distinction. Many definitions have been proposed in an attempt to identify these two separate aspects of food studies, e.g.

As already mentioned above, research into the needs of various animal groups for healthy, fast, and controlled development has led to the definition of preferred feed components and the development of complex rations, which do not only provide food but also guarantee animal health and growth. This is particularly true for feeds for specific animal farming technologies, such as the already traditional feed lot formulations for cattle or the more recently formulated nutrients for fish and shrimp farming, and for pet foods.
