Foliar lipids

Pyraflufen-ethyl is also used as the defoliant for cotton and as a desiccant for potatoes. Pyraflufen-ethyl is a novel inhibitor of protoporphyrinogen IX oxidase. Inhibition of this enzyme in chloroplasts causes accumulation of protoporphyrinogen IX, which results in peroxidation of foliar cell membrane lipids under the light and finally death of cells. 

Owing to its mode of action as lipid biosynthesis inhibitor, juvenile stages of aphids are particularly affected by spirotetramat 32, whereas adults are strongly affected in their fecundity (unpublished results), which from an applied point of view will drastically reduce population development under fidd conditions. Spirotetramat 32 applied foliarly exhibited excellent systemic efficacy against aphids and whiteffies, whereas its contact efficacy against these pests is rather limited (Fig. 28.4.6). 

Soybean. Studies with the soybean (Glycine max L. Merrill, cv Centennial) showed that when the plant Is treated by foliar application with DCPTA and other bloregulatory agents (Figure 1), there Is observed a general effect an Increase In yield accompanied by enhancement of protein and lipid content as shown in Table I ( ). 

High abundance of benzo[a]pyrene was foimd in foliar extracts (Fismes et al. 2002), after translocation from roots to aerial parts contrary to that, both studied plants species could uptake BaP from MS medium to roots once in the roots, the chemical may be tend to bind with lipid membranes or oil possibly present in plant roots, because translocation of BaP to stem via xylem is limited as shows Figure 4.
