Chain reactions do not go on forever. The fog may clear and the improved visibility ends the succession of accidents. Neutron-scavenging control rods may be inserted to shut down a nuclear reactor. The chemical reactions which terminate polymer chain reactions are also an important part of the polymerization mechanism. Killing off the reactive intermediate that keeps the chain going is the essence of these termination reactions. Some unusual polymers can be formed without this termination these are called living polymers. 

Determination of the Gas-Phase Temperature. The development given above is in terms of interface conditions, bulk Hquid temperature, and bulk gas enthalpy. Often the temperature of the vapor phase is important to the designer, either as one of the variables specified or as an important indicator of fogging conditions in the column. Such a condition would occur if the gas temperature equaled the saturation temperature, that is, the interface temperature. When fogging does occur, the column can no longer be expected to operate according to the relations presented herein but is basically out of control.

Figure 6 shows typical results obtained with the plug-flow quartz reactor containing 0.5 g of Sr(lwt%)/La203 catalyst operated in the continuous flow recycle mode. The inlet CH partial pressure was 20 kPa (20% CH in He) at inlet flowrates of 7.1 and 14.3 cm STP/min. A 20% O2 in He mixture was supplied directly, at a flowrate Fog, in the recycle loop via a needle valve placed after the reactor (Fig. 1). Many companies sell machines that use a glycol- and water-based fog fluid)1,2 These liquids are pumped into a temperature-controlled heat exchanger, heated, and, as a consequence, vaporized into thick clouds of fog. Sometimes it s really hard for me to get past my anger or brain fog or depression or fear. I think part of the depression and self doubt are a result of never feeling well. And part of the reason a lot of people with MCS feel fearful and angry, or depressed, is because this illness works on the part of the brain that controls the emotions.
