FLS Postaccident Investigation Involvement

Besides involvement with accident investigations, the FLS should have a major role in completing the process of getting the injured worker back to work and fully productive. Acclimatization is a principle employed to get team members used to working in temperatures that vary from normal room temperature. This principle eases people into working in these extreme temperatures for short periods that increase a little each day or work shift. For full acclimatization, it may take a few weeks. A similar process may be necessary when an injured worker comes back to his or her department to perform work. 

Before allowing the injured worker back into the workforce, the FLS should ensure that this team member has been released for duty by the company physician, medical department or personnel, or human resource department. Using the company physician or company department authorization is an important point. Team members have been known to perform a variety of interesting antics both to avoid work and to get back to work.
