Flowmeters INDEX

Cut points specify the beginning and end of the collection of a fraction. Cut points can be based on time, although in practice time is not the most stable parameter, due to possible fluctuations in the flow rate. They can be based on threshold values of the UV-detector signal or on volume of eluent through a mass flowmeter. Cut point locations can also be a combination of a characteristic feature on the chromatogram and volume. Cut point locations for valve switching may also be based on the response of less traditional detection instrumentation such as the on- line measurement of density, conductivity, temperature, spedflc ion detection, near infrared, or refractive index.

It is well known that corrosion processes are enhanced if there are high levels of impurities in the water. Therefore, to keep the level of impurities low, an ion exchange purification system has been employed since startup in the MIR reactor coohng pool. This system includes a heat exchanger, a pump, two filters with a total capacity of 800 L, a flowmeter, shut-off valves and other fittings. The filters are filled with Russian made nuclear grade ion exchange resins KU-2-8 (cationic) and AV-17-8 (anionic) in the ratio of 2 1. This system provides reduction of the specific p activity by more than a factor of 10. When this index drops to a factor of 2, the resin is replaced otherwise, as a rule, it is replaced once a year.

The adequacy of these connections has been demonstrated through their extensive safe use since 1959, when they were first approved by the CGA. CGA E-7, Standard for Medical Gas Regulators and Flowmeters, was established in 1983. [5] This CGA standard specifies that, where applicable, connections to these components be in accordance with CGA V-5, Diameter Index Safety System. [4]...
