Deinking flotation

Wash deinking often used for flexo-printed waste and in older tissue mills, large water consumption. Flotation deinking for oil-based printings such as offset and rotogravure, technology from the mining industry. [Pg.24]

Cellulase is added during pulping or flotation deinking. The enzyme increases the amount of ink removed from the fibers, thereby increasing the cleanliness of the sheet. This results in a brighter, cleaner sheet, or alternatively a reduction in the use of surfactants and bleaching chemicals. [Pg.47]

In some flotation deinking, calcium chloride is used with a long-chain fatty acid to make the ink particles hydrophobic.31... [Pg.410]

The effiuent/white water quality has to be controlled very exactly. COD increases with increasing pH. For flotation deinking of recovered paper the total chemical costs have a relatively high proportion of 15-20% of the overall DIP production costs. Yield rates up to 93 % for newsprint production are attainable. [Pg.96]

Ultrafine particle size platy talcs have been used extensively as recycling additives. The highly adsorbant talcs attract inks, adhesives and other organics that may be part of the recycled stock. Talcs also function in flotation deinking processes as foam stabilizers, and since talc tends to float on water, it helps to carry the ink particles to the surface. The talc-waste particles are large enough to be easily removed by filtration or other cleaning methods. [Pg.195]
