Flight velocity

The energetics of the Eley-Rideal reaction (A E —230 kJ mol-1) are well established.42 Here, the highly exoergic reaction forming gas-phase HC1 was probed by time-of-flight velocity measurements,39,41 scattering angular distributions,39,41 and state-selective laser spectroscopy.39-41... [Pg.392]

In order to overcome the difficulties associated with the non-choked fuel-flow system and the fixed fuel-flow system, a variable fuel-flow system is introduced the fuel gas produced in a gas generator is injected into a ramburner. The fuel-flow rate is controlled by a control valve attached to the choked nozzle according to the airflow rate induced into the ramburner. An optimized mixture ratio of fuel and air, which is dependent on the flight altitude and flight velocity, is obtained by modulating the combustion rate of the gas-generating pyrolant When a variable fuel-flow-rate system is attached to the choked nozzle of the gas generator, the fuel-flow rate is altered in order to obtain an optimized combustible gas in the ramburner. This class of ducted rockets is termed variable fuel-flow ducted rockets or VFDR . [Pg.447]

Wj) Velocimeter (Radar) Test. The purpose of this test, developed at PicArsn, is to track by radar high-velocity artillery projectiles as well as mortar rounds during their flights. This is done in order to obtain continuous informa tion on the in-flight velocities and on any changes in the projectile (such as projectile breakup) that occur in flight. The radar that has been used at PicArsn is the modified HAWK (p HIB-21 of Ref 39)... [Pg.1101]

PDT is based on the detection of scattered refraction and reflection pulses that sweep past a detector at different times as a particle traverses a narrow laser sheet. In conjunction with Mie scattering and time-of-flight velocity measuring technique, detailed distributions of particle size from 2 pm to 6000 pm are provided together with particle velocities from 0.5 m s to 150 m s. A miniaturized particle size velocimeter developed by Metrolaser is the first of its kind to utilize this technique. [Pg.574]

A further improvement can be made to this experiment starting with thermal orthopositronium formed on porous Si02 hlms [31] with pulsed Doppler-free, two-photon excitation to the 2 S i state. More of the initial state for the micro-wave transitions would thus be available and time-of-flight velocity systematics... [Pg.119]

Numerous ground base facilities have been developed for materials characterization. The more widely used facilities have been reviewed, together with their capability to simulate various flight velocity-altitude (enthalpy-pressure equivalent) conditions. Each facility is characterized by its capability to generate a high temperature fluid stream, differing in static and impact pressure, temperature and enthalpy, velocity, species concentration., energy states, and heat and mass transfer. [Pg.600]

The trajectory of the missile is calculated in two dimensions accoimting for a resistance of air proportional to the square of flight velocity. This applies to the so-called ballistic range which lies between very low velocities, where resistance is proportional to velocity, and supersonic velocities where resistance is a complex function. Fragments from vessel bursts are usually encountered in this range [2]. We then have the following equations of motion... [Pg.561]

The approximate molecular weights of the gaseous products from the pyrolysis of HMX was determined by the time-of-flight velocity spectra method described in Ref. 8... [Pg.343]
