Flexographic printing plates

Flexographic Printing Plates. There are three primary types of flexographic printing plates molded mbber, soHd-sheet photopolymer, and hquid photopolymer.

Other uses include the production of flexographic printing plates from UV-cur-able materials. An interesting application is three-dimensional modeling (stereolithography) in which a solid part is made from a vat of UV-curable liquor by the use of UV lasers controlled by computers using CAD/CAM software.

Photoinitiated cationic polymerizations have numerous applications involving photoimaging. Epoxy-based photoresists with high resolution derived from commercially available resins have been developed (22) and the use of these same materials in plastic flexographic printing plates has been shown in our laboratory.

Flexographic printing is printing process that uses a flexible relief plate. The basic principles of this method can be foimd elsewhere (18,19). The first patent for a flexographic type printing press dates from 1909, even when such machines were fabricated earlier (20).
