Capillary electrophoresis has been applied to the analysis of enzymically glucosylated flavonoids and of monosaccharides from glycosaminoglycans, using UV detection and indirect laser-induced fluorescence detection, respectively, and the separation of the cyanogenic glycosides amygdalin and prunasin from their isomers has been achieved by a micellar capillary electrophoresis method. ... 

Phytochemistry The entire plant contains alkaloids including hyoscyamine (isomer of atropine), scopolamine, and glycosides. The seeds contain essential oils. The leaves are rich in flavonoids such as rutin (Tolmachev 1976 Ganunerman et al. 1990). 

Despite many advantages, MS/MS detection is not sufficient to determine the molecular formula of an unknown. Mass spectrometers with ion trap are able to identify new, unknown polyphenolic compounds in food samples, which are characterized by their ability to detect MS experiments. They can generate fragmentation of ions in n generations, which is particularly crucial in the analysis of isomer glycoside flavonoids. The resolution of the masses, achieved by the ion trap mass spectrometer, is comparable to that of the quadrupole mass spectrometers.
