OSO4 sharply decreases antigenicity and is not considered suitable as prefixative, though Baskin et al. (1979) employed it successfully for some hormones. 

The preparation of the most frequently used fixatives for ultrastruc-tural EIH are given in Table 17.9. 

Two stock solutions are prepared, one with lysine (solution A) and one with formaldehyde (solution B). 

L-Lysine is added to distilled water (1.83 g/50 ml) and the pH adjusted to 7.4 with 100 mM Na2HP04. This solution is diluted to 100 ml with 100 mM sodium phosphate buffer.
