First stage Rack

The assembly rack distributed during the first RCM, in 1996, was immersed in one of the open channels (channel 46) at the CSF, in order to study the corrosion behaviour of the different alloys in the water of that basin. The procedure for the preparation, immersion and corrosion analysis of the samples is described below. [Pg.78]

As only Fe reacts with calcium phytate, the first stage in treatment is to aerate the wine by racking or injecting oxygen. It is then left to rest for four days, so that the ferric iron concentration reaches a maximum level. The wine must be protected by sulfuring at 3-5 g/hl to avoid extensive spoilage due to oxidation. At this concentration, SO2 does not prevent iron from oxidizing. [Pg.101]

The first stage in the dismantling procedure is the removal of the internals fix m the RPV. This work can be started as soon as the spent fuel and the control rods has been removed. The internals will be transferred to the fuel pools and cut into pieces before transportation to the intermediate storage for spent fuel and internals. The moderator tank rack which is welded to the RPV bottom walls will be left in the RPV. The weight of the rack is 16 tonnes. Total weight of the internals is 140 tonnes. [Pg.176]

The metal snrfaces of the filter plates and the expanded metal inserts and filter frames, in contact with the wine during processing, are preferably made from 316 stainless steel with smooth polished surfaces to prevent microbiological contamination. The first stage at which wine is filtered is likely to be at the time of first racking. [Pg.260]

Winemaker s opinions vary as to the timing of starter inoculation. In the survey of Fugelsang and Zoecklein (1993), 41% of red wine producers added starters during the course of alcoholic fermentation, 17% at the end, and 17% after pressing at the end of extended maceration. The situation was quite different for white wine producers 25% inoculate at the same time as yeasts, 15% early in alcoholic fermentation, 48% at some stage of later fermentation, 9% upon completion (but before first racking) and 3% after first racking. [Pg.17]

Given the different water control conditions in each of the sites, it was decided to conduct the CRP monitoring programme in the CSF, RA3 DP, RA6 DP and RA6 RP. A total of seven racks were used. The programme was divided into two stages. In the initial stage, the first rack (rack 1) was used to monitor only one of the facilities, in order to gather data to improve the surveillance routine. In the second phase, the work was extended to all the locations. [Pg.77]
