Fire Program

All in-plant and out-of-plant systems are carefully evaluated to ensure plant and emergency response personnel are notified in a timely manner. If fire disables the alarm system, backup systems should be available and employees should know to utilize them. An effective fire plan incorporates as many of the emergency systems into the daily plant operations as possible in order to ensure they are in operational order and personnel are aware of how to use them. 

Since fire equipment is spread throughout the plant, it may be impractical to have supervisors handle inspections in their respective sections and report to the safety department. A better approach is to work with a member of the maintenance or engineering staff to handle these responsibilities. It is generally good practice to involve as

The second witness was Vincent Lewis, a fire program specialist for the Department of Homeland Security and a retired fire captain from Michigan. Risk sensitivity results are also very useful in identifying key elements in your existing loss prevention program. For example, suppose your fire protection system was assumed to have a very low probability of failure because you test it weekly. Fire protection failures may not show up as an important contributor to your total risk (because failure is so unlikely), but your total risk estimate may be extremely sensitive to any change in the probability of fire protection failures. Flence you should not divert resources away from testing the fire protection system unless the alternate use of funds will decrease risk more than the reduced testing will increase risk.

Reliability of a plant depends on many parameters, sueh as the type of fuel, the preventive maintenanee programs, the operating mode, the eontrol systems, and the firing temperatures. 

Automobile and marine fuel handling is covered in NFPA 30A. This section addresses specific operations in which static electricity has caused fires and injury. Relevance to the CPI includes employee safety programs and company-owned gasoline fueling depots. 

Program created for DOT, EPA, and FEMA to aid emergency preparedness personnel in assessing the sequence and nature of events that may follow an accident. ARCHIE incorporates several estimation methods that may be used to assess the vapor discharge, fire, and explosion impacts associated with episodic discharges of hazardous materials.
