Refillable metal containers, including LPG and compressed gas fuel tanks for vehicles, pressure vessels for refrigeration equipment, pump tanks, and fire extinguishers. 

The power unit must be equipped with a fire extinguisher that is properly filled, securely mounted on the vehicle, and located so that it is readily accessible for use. 

Motor vehicles carrying explosives must (1) be driven by and in the charge of a hcensed and physically fit driver, (2) be marked or placarded on both sides, the front, and rear with the word Explosives in red letters, not less than four inches high, on white background, (3) never be left unattended, and (4) be equipped with a fully charged approved fire extinguisher of not less than 10-ABC rating. 

School bus drivers should be required to perform daily pretrip inspections of their vehicles and the safety equipment thereon (especially fire extinguishers), and to report promptly and in writing any problons discovered that may affect the safety of the vehicle s operation or result in its mechanical breakdown. Pretrip inspection and condition reports for school buses and school-chartered buses subject to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations of FHWA should be performed in accordance with those regulations (49 CFR 392.7, 392.8, and 396 U.S. Department of Transportation, 2006). 

If a power unit or a vehicle pulled by a power unit requires the display of markings or placards, the power unit must be equipped with a fire extinguisher having an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) rating of 10 B C or more. The fire extinguisher must be properly filled, securely mounted, and located so that it is readily accessible for use. It must be designed, constructed, and maintained to permit visual determination of whether it is fully charged. 

Vehicles subject to the law must be inspected eveiy 6 months. For trucks, truck tractors, trailers, and semi-trailers, the inspection shall be conducted in accordance with Appendix G to Part 396 procedures. Required safety equipment emergency warning devices and fire extinguisher) is not subject to inspection during an Appendix G inspection. 

Maps are also handy for operations involving vehicle movement. If, e.g., a truck of hazardous chemicals arrives at the gate of the facility, the security guard can provide the driver with a map of the roads to the location where he is to unload. Maps can also show the layout of safety equipment such as fire monitors and extinguishers. 

There is a wide range of firefighting equipment - from the simple hand extinguisher to sophisticated fire-engine type vehicles. Also, a distinction can be drawn between mobile and fixed apparatus.
