Film thickness liquid phase, resolution

With 0.25 pxa films, practical operating temperatures can be used with minimal concern for column bleed, since column bleed is proportional to the amount of liquid phase in the column. Finally, with this film thickness, the column can be optimized for high speed using fast flow rates or high resolution using slower flow rates. 

Column—A 60 m x 0.54 mm ID fused silica open tubular column containing a 5 pm film thickness of bonded methyl silicone liquid phase is used. The column shall provide retention and resolution characteristics as listed in Table 2 and illustrated in Figure 1. The column will also demonstrate a sufficiently low liquid phase bleed at high temperature such that no loss of the SCD sulfur response is encountered while operating the column at 200 C.
