Film and Tape Polyurethane Adhesives

Tape adhesives are those backed with a reinforcement or carrier while film adhesives are self supporting. Reasons for their use are high reliability, a high degree of chemical and physical uniformity, ease of handling, waste reduction, and absence of mixing limitations (this allows realization of adhesive maximum physical properties). [Pg.241]

Thermoplastic polyurethane film and sheet are especially well suited for adhesive applications. Such films are offered in transparent, translucent, or opaque colours. They are available in many thicknesses (OT-1 mm). These can be bonded to various substrates by using heat and pressure alone. [Pg.241]

When softened to approximately 200 C they can be adhered strongly to most substrates. Thermoplastic film and sheet are excellent adhesives for bonding fabrics. Stitching is eliminated. [Pg.241]

Bonds made with thermoplastic materials are strong and withstand laundering and dry cleaning. The film is excellent for bonding emblems, labels and industrial fabrics. [Pg.241]
