Procesring of Polyamides.—Fibre Formation, Structure, and Properties. The equipment used for production of fibres by wet spinning of limited quantities of materials has been described, together with physical characterization methods for spun filaments of poly(m-phenylene adamantane l,3 dicarboxamide).  

The melt-spinning dynamics and rheological properties of nylon 6 have been studied together with eifects of drawing and of swelling and additive incorporation,and the effects of crystallite dimensions on structure and modulus. Crystallinity and crystallite size measurement in both polyamides and polyesters has also been reviewed.  

The glass transition temperature of polyamide fibres continues to evoke interest with a paper on the effect of molecular structure, water, fibre structure and experimental technique on this property which was related to dyeability.  

The effect of interaction of polycaproamide and poly(ethylene terephthalate) in the melt phase on their melt spinning behaviour has also been described.  

In the aromatic series of polyamides wet spinning of poly(l, 4-benzamide) from amide-salt solutions has been studied and the mechanical properties evaluated after thermal treatments without drawing. Studies on fibre structure and crystallite structure have also been made for this system.
