Fiber optic dynamic light scattering

A laboratory made fiber optic dynamic light scattering instrument has been described together with a description of its use to study the kinetics of aging processes in emulsions [290]. The method is particularly useful for this purpose since it permits measurements in concentrated emulsions. [Pg.594]

FODLS (fiber-optic dynamic light scattering) Lab and pilot scale emulsion polymerization reactions [116-1181 Non-invasive, no dilution necessary/Only average particle size, multiple scattering not fully solved [119] Emulsion polymerization. Promising technique that has not reached maturity. No industrial applications. [Pg.331]

FODLS fiber-optic dynamic light scattering... [Pg.392]

This method is based on the use of fiber optics, sometimes referred to as fiber optic dynamic light scattering (FODLS) and it allows one to measure at high particle number concentrations. FODLS employs either one or two optical fibers. Alternatively, fiber bundles may be used. The exit port of the optical fiber (optode) is immersed in the sample and the scattered light in the same fiber is detected at a scattering angle of 180° (i.e. backscattering). [Pg.321]

The basic theory and discussion of results are covered in papers by Thomas [308]. who uses a Brookhaven Instrument Fiber Optics Quasi-Elastic Light Scattering System (BI-FOQELS) with dynamic light scattering obtained using the BI-DLS and diluted samples. [Pg.601]
