Ferrocene polyoxa-thia coronands

The sulfur-containing ferrocene coronands were among the first reported [103] and several types, e.g. 51-54, are now known [104-107], Various other related compounds have been characterized and can be found in the references cited. 

These coronands are efficient complexing agents for silver(I), 55, but not for alkali metals. They can serve as extracting agents for Ag+, T1+, Cd, Co +, Cu +, Ni +, and Hg + and they complex selectively with Hg + and Cu +. 

A tetrathiafulvalene unit has been incorporated into the macrocycle 56 to modify its electrochemical (redox) properties [108],
