Fellow-travellers

Fourth, I would like to extend a particularly deep thanks to my fellow traveler, Lyntis Bem d, who shares my strange predilection for weaving holistic patterns out of what most of the (Western) world sees simply as arbitrarily partitioned things. Lyntis calm presence continues to make my intellectual journey a much happier, and a far less lonely, one. I cherish your always kind and gentle wisdom.

One particular railway journey paid handsome dividends. Saturn s retinue of satellites is qualitatively quite different from Jupiter s fellow travelers. The system contains just one large satellite, Titan, which is virtually identical in bulk properties to Ganymede and Callisto. Titan s density, determined from Voyager observations, suggests a ice/rock composition and a probable differentiated interior by analogy with the Jupiter satellites. Titan s atmosphere, the first discovered for a planetary satellite, was detected in 1944 through identification of methane gas absorptions in its spectrum (Kuiper, 1944). 

The most common and perhaps least talked about mental problems are depression and anxiety. The panic attack, or anxiety attack, is recognized as a fellow-traveler with depression. It has been called the common cold of psychological complaints. A state of misery is apparently the near-normal human condition. Not for nothing did Thoreau write about us leading lives of quiet desperation. This pervasive life crippler is slowly yielding to a nutritional and biochemical approach, which cannot be too soon.
