Whitford (2006) has listed the following advantages of the fed-batch mode  

Variant of batch mode, operated with cells that are already well characterized for the specific application. 

inexpensive and easy implementation relative to other systems. 

Good reproducibility and predictability of large-scale system modes (after batch). 

Flexibility in materials employed, process design, adaptation, and optimization of the process to suit the requirements.
