Fascism

It has been commonly understood that the carnage and tragedy of the First World War and the economic crises that followed it steered Soddy into economics (Merricks 1996, 108). Other notable public figures, such as Ezra Pound, followed a similar path for like reasons—though Pound s political sympathies moved him into fascism, while Soddy remained on the Left. As we shall see, however, Soddy s alchemical interests helped him connect chemistry to monetary theory. He would eventually cast that relationship as both moral and scientific. 

Even among the defense industries that assembled the engines of this war against fascism abroad, companies like Vultee Aircraft announced baldly that only members of the Caucasian race will be employed in our plant. 50 One black schoolteacher from North Carolina queried Louis Adamic Can the people of the United States afford to criticize Germany... 

Bulwer-Lytton is best known to Americans through his 1838 novel, The Last Days of "Pompeii, but he is also both the spiritual father of the Rhodes-Milner secret societies and of Nazi fascism. A mystic and prenascent fascist, Bulwer-Lytton led the English Rosicmcians, a branch of the Scottish Rite Masons headed by his Prime Minister Palmerston. 

Britain s imperial link to Nazi fascism is even more direct in the case of Bulwer-Lytton s other published work. His novel Rienzi, about the Knights of St. John, provided the text of Richard Wagner s first opera. His 1871 novel, Vril The Power of the Coming Race, contained virtually everything that Houston Stewart Chamberlain later had to say on racial theory Prof.

Richard Sasuly s book on ig Farben was published in 1947. In it, he notes The magic of ig synthetics would become the property of the nations which won the war against German fascism. 54 Sasuly was the head of financial intelligence and liaison of the Finance Division of the United States Military Government. At first the us occupiers were interested in gold reserves and... 

Tim Mason s analyses recorded opposition and spontaneous struggles in the Third Reich. These were usually part of efforts to safeguard workers economic interests. Political resistance was punishable by imprisonment and death, but it did not disappear, despite all the Nazis efforts, even inside the concentration camps. I try to be exceptionally cautious in using such loaded terms as "fascism, but I think this one is justified here. When Le Corbusier writes of the beauty of the Parthenon, the celebration of violence is just beneath the surface. "Remember the Parthenon, he writes. "Remember its clarity, its clear lines, its intensity, its economy, its violence, remember its great cry in the midst of that landscape created by grace and terror. Strength and purity (ibid., p. 187 [emphasis added]). Le Corbusier also has the tendency, as we shall presently see, to dehumanize his opponents and the urban poor Everything depends upon the wisdom of the plans.. . . ...
