Falling Film SO3 Condenser

SO3 reacts violently with water with evolution of heat. In case of a tube leakage, no water will enter on SO3 side, because it is not under pressure. However, a little SO3 can go to water side and make the exit water acidic and hence conducting. An alarm can indicate this. SO3 vapours will get released to the sky from the top open end of the leaking tube (Fig. 6.6).
