Failure warning or indication will provide detection of a condition before it can lead to a dangerous scenario.

Figure 21-1 shows the eoneept of a total performanee eondition monitoring system. 

The use of appropriate instruments to monitor equipment operation and relevant process variables will detect, and provide warning of, undesirable excursions.
