Failure of a Polypropylene Vessel

The function of the water scrubber is to remove gaseous HCl and HF from reactor-off gases as the first stage in cleaning this gas stream. 

The failure was a sudden brittle fracture in a vessel wall which resulted in the ejection of the fractured section.
