Fading with Track Envelopes

Track envelopes (both Volume and Pan) were discussed in Chapter 2. Remember that the volume of a track is unaffected by a Volume envelope that is in the vertical center of the track. 

Double-click the Volume envelope at the end of the introductory section to add 

Drag the first node on the envelope to the bottom of the track. 

Multiple Volume envelopes and staggered instrument introductions can create a simple beginning to a song. 

Pressing the V key on your keyboard (or P for panning) actually does one of two things. Either it inserts a Volume envelope in a track if one doesn t already exist, or, if a Volume envelope is already inserted into the selected track, it shows or hides all Volume envelopes. For example, if you press V once in a track with no Volume envelopes, a Volume envelope will he inserted AND all other Volume envelopes in the project will be made visible. Pressing the V key again will hide all Volume envelopes.
