Ostwald, and Arrhenius on the new Zeitschrift fur physikalische Chemie. Raoult s name was one of only three French scientists listed among twenty-one on the title page of the first issue. Thus, Raoult, who had no advanced pupils in the Sciences Faculty at Grenoble, counted Lespieau as his student. Lespieau, in turn, introduced the methods of "cryoscopy" and "ebullioscopy" into Parisian laboratories. At Raoult s request, he also wrote an article on Raoult s apparatus for the Paris Chemical Society. 22 And through Raoult, Lespieau became thoroughly familiar with the latest developments in physical chemistry in the 1880s and 1890s. 

One of the developments that has contributed substantially to the improved quality of drug development is the emergence of Pharmaceutical Medicine. Pharmaceutical Medicine is the discipline concerned with the medical aspects of research, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring and marketing of medicines in the interest of patients. In Great Britain a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine was introduced in 1975, and in 1989 the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine was established as part of the Royal College of Physicians. Subsequently, similar developments took place in other countries. 

Since the collection contains over 100 documents faculty must choose which documents to use in their courses. The most effective mechanism is for faculty to require use of an SME from the very start of a course and build opportunities for students to learn the software as they complete homework and write laboratory reports throughout the semester. Thus one would start with a training exercise for the SME and follow with simple calculations and exercises in every homework assignment. As the semester proceeds one can introduce skills for... 

Within the broader context of their chosen research project, module authors communicate chemical concepts and introduce students to the research process. Faculty are motivated to write CASPiE modules in part because they recognize the opportunity to teach students the chemistry concepts involved in their own research. An event of a nature quite unprecedented in the annals of the Chemical Society took place in the large Lecture Theatre on January 16th. A degree of Ph.D. was introduced by Liverpool University in 1922 but not until December 1924 was the degree conferred on a woman. The Faculty of Science and especially the Department of Chemistry, is very proud that the first successful woman was a chemist — Dr Edith Morrison, who after two years of brilliant research work on Photosynthesis, under Prof. Baly, obtained a well-deserved degree.42...
