F-Caprolactam

PTFE/PDMS can be obtained via a similar process [112]. PTFE chains are trapped in the PDMS network during casting. Jones et al. [113] also patented a process where adipic acid and hexane diamine (or f -caprolactam [114]) were added to a silicone latex leading to the formation of a polyamide/PDMS semi-IPN. [Pg.136]

Rosa Llusar was born on September 20th, 1960 in Almenara (Spain). She studied chemistry at the University of Valencia (Spain) where she graduated in 1983 with the highest honors. Her doctorate work was devoted to the chemistry of cubane-type molybdenum and tungsten sulfides and she received Ph.D. degrees from Valencia University in 1987 and from Texas A M University (USA) in 1988, under the guidance of Prof. F. Albert Cotton. After working in the Research and Development Department of a Caprolactam Production Plant in Castello (Spain) for three years, she spent one year (1992) with Prof John D. The use of various thermal methods to investigate e-caprolactam polymerization allowed us to determine the expression for the kinetic function f(P) for this monomer 29 32... [Pg.24]

The treatment of kinetic effects in anionic polymerization of e-caprolactam in terms of selfacceleration is now quite conventional thus it is considered incorrect to use first- or second- order kinetic equations to describe the kinetics of this reaction, although this was attempted in some early publications. However, the analytical representation of the kinetic function f(P) need not be like Eq. (2.14). For example, the same qualitative effect was observed in one publication,36 which was described in other publications as self-acceleration. A different kinetic function was derived from the proposed set of elementary reactions ... [Pg.29]

Caprolactam can be made by the Beckmann rearrangement of the oxime f of cyclohexanone. (Check that you can draw the mechanisms, of both these reactions and look at Chapters 14 and 37 if you find you can t.) Cyclohexanone used to be made by the oxidation of cyclohexane with molecular oxygen until the explosion at Fiixborough in Lincolnshire on 1 June 1974 that killed 28 people. Now cyclohexanone is made from phenol. [Pg.1454]
