Eyeglass case An eyeglass case holds sunglasses and reading glasses and protects them while carrying them in a bag or pocket. Shapes and constmction vary widely, but it always resembles and closely fits the eyewear. [Pg.161]

Decorative. Titanium nitride has a golden color and is used extensively to coat steel and cemented carbide substrates for watch cases, watch bands, eyeglass frames, etc. It provides exceUent scratch resistance as weU as the desired aesthetic appearance, and it replaces gold coatings used previously. [Pg.51]

Coatings of refractory carbides and nitrides and more recently carbon and DLC are used extensively in decorative applications on jewelry, eyeglasses, and similar products in attractive colors such as gold (TiN) and metallic grey, or charcoal (DLC, CrN, and TaN). They provide a surface which is hard and wear resistant, sweat resistant and, in the case of gold, less costly. They are usually applied by cathode sputtering and less frequently by CVD. [Pg.446]

In Chapter 9 properties of antireflection coatings were examined. At that time the simplified case of a single film separating air and a substrate was considered. Here the discussion is on how such a film might be produced. Acmal films, such as the anti-reflective coatings on the lenses found in eyeglasses, contain multiple layers plus a protective coating. [Pg.517]

As with other scientific fields, the practice of medicine has become increasingly specialized. Most doctors now become experts in treating specific parts of the body, and in some cases, treat only one type of disease. Think of the last two doctor visits you made were they to the same doctor Probably not. You probably went to one doctor for a general check-up, another to have your teeth cleaned, and still another if you wear eyeglasses. [Pg.139]

In cases where safety-toe protective footwear (including steel-toe shoes or steel-toe boots) and prescription safety eyewear are non-standard specialty items, the employer must pay for them. For example, prescription eyeglass inserts for full-facepiece respirators and non-skid shoes for floor strippers are specialty items, so payment will be required. [Pg.236]
