Eyebright

Eyebright possesses anticatarrheal, astringent, and anti-inflammatory properties. Traditionally, it has been used for nasal catarrh, sinusitis, and particularly for conjunctivitis when applied locally as an eye lotion. [Pg.93]

False unicorn is believed to act on the uterus. Traditionally, it is used for ovarian dysmenorrhea, leucorrhea, and specifically for amenorrhea. It is also reported to be useful in preventing vomiting during pregnancy and threatened miscarriage. [Pg.93]


Elder blossoms are frequently made into a tea, sometimes with eyebright Euphrasia officinalis) and used as an eyewash for conjunctivitis. Elder flowers are mixed with rosewater and applied to the eyes to improve vision. Elder flower tea is a popular "spring tonic," taken first thing in the morning for several weeks.
