Ethylene glycol, derivative

Figure 13 shows a full NMR spectrum of PET, in TCE solvent, acquired at 100°C. Resonances a and b are from the terephthalate and ethylene glycol derived protons, respectively. Resonances c and d arise from the protons in diethylene glycol (DEG), which is formed as a side reaction in the PET polymerisation process. An expansion of the ethylene glycol-based region of the spectrum is shown in Figure 14. Proton NMR techniques have been described for characterising end groups [42-44], the methodology below being that which is used in our laboratory. Many of the derivatives of propylene glycol, namely the ethers and the acetates, behave very much like the corresponding ethylene glycol derivatives. For that reason they are easily substitutable for each other. [Pg.166]

The quasi-linear relationship between the logarithm of the retention factor and volume fraction organic cosolvent in the mobile lase seems to be the general rule in RPC. However, special effects can ur to cause this rule to be violated. Marked deviation from linearity was observed by Melander et al. (158) with retention data o poiy(ethylene glycol) derive-... [Pg.262]

Sugar derivatives of phosphanes can be made by reaction of ethylene glycol derivatives with sugar diacetonides to form monoallyl ethers, which can be brominated at the double bond. These compounds react with phenyl-and diphenylphosphanes to yield ligands with a sugar function in the side chain (57). Phosphinated glucopyranosides were prepared by Oehme and... [Pg.482]

Schubert98 proposed the potential use of several ruthenium containing polymers in photovoltaic devices. A ruthenium containing poly(ethylene glycol) derivative 34 was synthesized by the functionalization of 4-(3-aminopropyl)-4-methyl-2,2-bipyridine with polyethylene glycol) (M =2800, PDI=1.05), which was activated with /V,/V-carbonyldiimidazole (Scheme 19)." Applications in solid electrolytes for DSSC was proposed. Polyester 35 was incorporated with... [Pg.183]

PEN is more rigid than PETE because naphthalene groups, which are larger than the phenyl groups present in PETE, serve as spacers between ethylene glycol-derived units. [Pg.276]

Ganghadara and Kishore [64-66] have published an interesting series of papers on the photochemistry of MCLC [64,65] and SCLC [66] polymers containing various bis(benzylidene)cycloalkanones as mesogens/chromophores and a tetra-ethylene glycol-derived flexible spacer to lower the transition temperatures.
