Establishing Effective Goals

When establishing goals it is important to identify those measures that are indicative of a good program. They must emphasize activities that are needed to meet the goals. [Pg.16]

A common downfall is to develop broad-ranging goals with no clear understanding of the activities that impact the outcomes, which in turn determine whether or not the goals are met. The best results for a metrics program can be achieved when the goals set are appropriate. [Pg.17]

Guidelines for developing effective goals and objectives have been presented in this chapter. The following are some examples of poorly constructed and well-constructed safety goals and objectives  [Pg.17]

This is considered a poorly written safety goal since it does not establish a timeframe for completion. It also does not provide a specific outcome that would be indicative of meeting the goal. [Pg.17]

This is considered a well-constructed safety goal because it establishes a fixed longterm focus for the safety program. The desired outcome for the goal is also measurable. [Pg.17]

While the goal of the previous models is to carry out analytical calculations and gain insight into the physical picture, the multidimensional calculations are expected to give a quantitative description of concrete chemical systems. However at present we are just at the beginning of this process, and only a few examples of numerical multidimensional computations, mostly on rather idealized PES, have been performed so far. Nonetheless these pioneering studies have established a number of novel features of tunneling reactions, which do not show up in the effectively one-dimensional models. [Pg.11]

After a period of hibernation following the publication of Turkevich s seminal papers in the 1950s [44,46], a whole plethora of preparative protocols has been published since Henglein and coworkers resumed this work in the late 1970s [107,108], The goal of this chapter is not to present a comprehensive directory of all synthetic papers on nanometal colloids, but to provide the reader with a general survey of a number of modern versions of established preparative methodologies that have been tested and found effective in a number of practical applications. [Pg.26]
