Erythrocytes integrin

At least 12 receptors CD 36, ICAM-1, PECAM-1/CD31, ELAM, thrombospondin (TSP), VCAM, E-selectin, chondroitin sulphate A (CSA), HA and alpha V/beta 3 integrin (Siano et al., 1998) on endothelial cells and HS, CR1 (CD35), blood group antigen A on red cells (see reviews by Sherman et al., 2003 and Cooke et al., 2004b) have been identified in the adhesion of P. falciparum-infected red cells to the vascular endothelium (sequestration/cytoadherence) and to erythrocytes (resetting). [Pg.192]
