Eric S. Proskauer

In addition to being a publisher with Interscience, Eric Proskauer was a beloved member of the polymer community. A touching tribute to his 70 birthday was published by John Wiley and Sons, who acquired Interscience [25] (Fig. 3.19). [Pg.49]

Eric S. Proskauer was born in Frankfort am Main in 1903 and educated at Leipzig University. He worked with Carl Drucker and obtained his Ph.D. in 1931. He fell in love with editing and publishing and worked for Akademische Verlagsgesellschaft. In 1937 he immigrated to the United States, and founded Interscience Publishers with Marcell Dekker in 1940. They wasted no time in publishing the series on High Polymeric Substances  [Pg.49]

The Tribute volume is hlled with praise from his myriad friends. The polymer community owes Eric Proskauer a great debt of gratitude. [Pg.49]

The story of Herman Mark and his polymer friends provides a strong basis for a coherent narrative. Brooklyn Poly was a fortress from which many polymer battles could be fought. With the death of Herman Mark, times have changed and the Polymer Research Institute is now an historical artifact. [Pg.49]
