Equipment Agitated cell reactor

AM Technology [33] is offering three types of equipment, namely agitated cell reactor, agitated tubular reactor (ATR) and variable-channel reactor (VCR). These may be viewed as a number of stirred tank reactors connected in series. [Pg.145]

The formaldehyde is charged into the reactor and the pH value has to be adjusted. Urea is then added and the mixture will be heated up to the reaction temperature. The reactor consists of a stirred kettle based on load cells and is equipped with heating jacket and internal cooling coils. Heating is carried out with low pressure steam. An efficient anchor agitator ensures good heat transmission and uniform reaction conditions. The reaction proceeds in several steps at 70°-100°C. [Pg.117]

Air Driven Bioreactors. The simplest design is the air-driven bioreactor equipped with sparger at the bottom of the vessel. It is widely used for plant cell, tissue, and organ cultures. In cases where the cells grow rapidly and the cell mass occupies 40-60% of the reactor volume, the flow characteristics become non-Newtonian and the culture medium can no longer be agitated by simple aeration. [Pg.48]
