Epilogue Lessons from the Inside

The purpose of this epilogue is to help people struggling with illness and medications to feel less alone in their plight. My grander hope is that the wisdom provided by those I interviewed will save others years of pain, confusion, and inadequate treatment. 

And give their advice a shot before you throw it out. 

In retrospect, interviewees saw stoic silence as ultimately self-defeating, for it only increased their pain. I heard many variations of these thoughts I just wish I 

Before taking any kind of psychiatric drug know what you re taking. Ask questions. If the doctor doesn t do it 

One young woman thought that shopping for doctors should be standard practice. Her advice was to interview at least three doctors before choosing one. The message from most people was to question authority
