Environment Flexural modulus

Flexural Properties. Both flexural modulus and flexural strength values were obtained. These values were measured at 23 °C and also over a range of temperatures for the MBAS polymer (see Figure 4). In the flexural tests, a molded bar is tested as a simple beam, the bar resting on two supports, and the load is applied midway between. The test is continued until rupture or 5% strain, whichever occurs first. The test fixture is mounted in a universal tester, and the tester is placed in an appropriate temperature environment. [Pg.250]

As in other cases, when reporting TMA the temperature environment of the substance should be clearly stated. The type of deformation (tensile, torsional, bending, etc.) and the dimensions, geometry, and materials of the loading elements should be noted. The ordinate scale should also be identified in specific terms where possible. For static procedures, increasing expansion, elongation, or extension and torsional displacement should be plotted upward. Increased penetration or deformation in flexure should be plotted downward. For dynamic mechanical procedures, the relative modulus and/or mechanical loss should be plotted upward. [Pg.516]
