Enhancer 2- Phenylethylamine

The obvious way is to indude p-phenylacetic add or p-phenylethylamine in cultures. Indeed, when (J-phenylacetic add was added to cultures grown in CSL, the yields of penidllin were enhanced further. Typical yields were 100-150 ig ml 1. [Pg.158]

Studies of sudden death in novice as well as experienced drug abusers found that cocaine causes vasoconstriction of the coronary arteries which seems to result from an enhancement of Ca2+ influx across myocardial membranes. However, remember that this class of drug affects other neurotransmitter systems. Cocaine inhbiits reuptake of NE and 5-HT as well as binds to the DA transporter. It increases catecholamine receptor sensitivity but does not seem to directly influence enkephalinergic receptors. In addition it also affects neurotransmission the H, Ach and phenylethylamine pathways. Activation of DA, NE or 5-HT neurons independently does not produce the euphoria associated with cocaine misuse. Euphoria seems to be related to simultaneous inteeraction between catecholamine and serotoninergic systems. [Pg.158]

Selegiline increases striatal phenylethylamine levels, enhances release of dopamine, and activates dopamine receptors. [Pg.194]

Achiral lanthanide chelates can also be added to CSAs such as arylperfluoroalkyl-carbinols, the ethyl ester of 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl-L-leucine (25) , the 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl derivative of 1-phenylethylamine, Af-(l-(l-naphthyl)ethyl)trifluoroacetamide (26) and a series of l-(l-naphthyl)ethyl urea derivatives of amino acids (27) to enhance the enantiomeric discrimination. With sulfoxide or lactone substrates , the europium ion preferentially associates with the substrate in the bulk solution. Provided the enantiomers have different association constants with the CSA, the isomer that shows the weaker association with the CSA shows the larger lanthanide-induced shifts. Low concentrations of lanthanide relative to the substrate and CSA lead to enhancements of enantiomeric discrimination in the NMR spectrum. If the concentration of lanthanide is too high, binding of the substrate to the lanthanide strips the substrate from the chiral solvating agent and diminishes the chiral discrimination in the NMR spectrum. [Pg.804]

Definition of Enhancer Regulation p-Phenylethylamine (PEA) and Tryptamine, Endogenous Enhancer Substances... [Pg.25]

We can define enhancer regulation as the existence of enhancer-sensitive neurons capable of changing their excitability in a split second and working on a higher activity level, due to natural enhancer substances. Of the agents with such effect, for the time being, only 3-phenylethylamine (PEA) and tryptamine have been experimentally analyzed (Knoll 2001,2003). [Pg.25]

Fig. 3.1. Significant enhancement of the nerve-stimulation-induced release of [3H]-norepinephrine, [3H]-dopamine, and [3H]-serotonin, respectively, from the isolated brain stem of the rat in the presence of p-phenylethylamine (PEA) (n = 8). Each graph bar represents the amount of the labeled transmitter in picomoles released in a 3-min collection period. See Knoll et al. (1996c) for methodology. Vertical lines above the graph bars show the SEM (standard error of the mean). Paired Student s f-test was used for statistical analysis. P < 0.05, P < 0.02, P < 0.01, P < 0.001... Fig. 3.1. Substituted-6-methyltriazolo[3,4-/ ][l,3,5]thiadiazines 229 are obtained in 18-88% yield by the bis-Mannich reaction of 3-substituted-5-mercapto-l,2,4-triazoles 226 and formaldehyde in the presence of acid (Scheme 42) <1999SC2027, 2001SC2841>. It has been found that the pH of the reaction mixture plays an important role and the optimum pH is in the range 5-6. Addition of a catalytic amount of potassium fluoride to the reaction further enhanced the overall yield <2001JHC929>. Chiral 1,3,5-thiadiazines are obtained when a chiral amine such as S(—)-a-phenylethylamine is used. [Pg.491]

Biologically active substances have been linked to polyphosphates via ionic bonds between the substance and the polymer (Scheme 6.16). Troev and co-workers have reported the successful immobilization of drugs such as 2-phenylethylamine, cysteamine, and bendamustine hydrochloride, leading to enhanced stability and a lower cytotoxicity of the polymer-drug complexes than the pure analogs. [Pg.124]

Tripodal cleft-Uke molecules such as 40 were shown to act as fluorescence sensors for ammonium ions starting from this model bis(oxazolinyl)phenols (41) were developed and were shown to undergo conformational changes, due to the interaction with amine guests, leading in some cases to fluorescence enhancement and in others to fluorescence sensing. Enantioselective fluorescence sensing of phenylethylamine was observed. The steric interactions between the oxazolinyl... [Pg.198]
