Engineering systems facilities management

The company has extensive processing, analytical and testing laboratory facilities and expertise, and produces a range of engineering and data management software products, and computerised knowledge-based systems. 

Development of a comprehensive and risk-based hazardous waste classification system, in which waste classes are defined in relation to types of disposal systems that are expected to be generally acceptable in protecting public health, would not obviate the need to establish waste acceptance criteria at each disposal site based on the characteristics of the site and engineered disposal facility and the properties of wastes intended for disposal therein. The primary purposes of a hazardous waste classification system are to facilitate cost-effective management and disposal of waste and effective communication on waste matters.

In a course entitled System Safety Management, the University of Washington offers an in-depth review of the management tasks appropriate for each phase of a system s life cycle, including the various life cycle phases of military and nonmilitary systems and facilities, and an overview of the analytical and mathematical theory necessary to perform system safety engineering tasks.

The policy and documentary records also indicate that the system is tested and inspected on an annual basis by a competent engineer. The audibility of the system is checked at regular intervals when testing the alarm by the facilities management team and employee feedback (a memo is sent to staff requesting information if they are in an area in which they cannot hear the alarm).
