Engineering conduct, making ethical

In Chapter 8,1 argue that, aU things considered, the approach used in this book to make ethical judgments about engineering conduct might be better termed a foundational-contextual ethical responsihihties approach. Seepp. 251-252. 

The challenge of postmodernism to chemical engineers has two parts first, clean up your act stop pollution and make sure your products are totally safe conduct your business and give attention to your employees in an ethical manner with due regard for human needs and values. Advertise your products without deception. 

Fifth, the ability to recognize and comprehend the ethical issues in an engineering situation should make inadvertent irresponsible behavior by engineers less frequent. That recognition and understanding will diminish appeals to the classic excuse, I didn t realize there were ethical issues involved in that situation. Presumably some engineers who are able to recognize ethical issues in professional practice will choose to avoid conduct they deem ethically irresponsible. 

Ethics rders to the study of morality and the moral choices that we all have to make in our lives. Proi onal societies, such as medical and engineering, have long established guidelines, standards, and rules that govern the conduct of their members. These rules are also used by the members of the board of ethics of the professional oiganization to interpret ethical dilemmas that are submitted by a complainant.
